Once upon a time, I loved him.
He broke me and he didn’t even know it.
I ran from him.
He didn’t chase me.
He never needed to, because he knew I’d come back.
He was right.
Death brought me home to him.
Drop dead gorgeous and filthy-mouthed with a smile that turns saints to sinners.
A casanova to his core.
My ex-best friend.
And the bad boy whose reputation precedes him—the same reputation I’m tasked with turning to gold… Or so they think.
Revenge is a dish best served cold, after all…

I totally loved this one! I mean obviously I love each any book emma Hart writes and this one was no different. You know there are some plus points in each an every author that you like the most and for that you buy the book. Well for me that trait was the sass she gives her characters. No normal sarcastic or dirty mouthed! Pure sass which we want to trait in ourself (attest i want to)
So yes you get that right her heroines are always damn sassy but her Brett the hero was sassy as well or cocky whatever you it.
Brett: Remember the time I made you write-up my book review of Romeo and Juliet and you did that book by Jane someone to teach me a lesson?
Me: Remember the time you didn’t have my phone number? I do. I liked it.
Brett: You got sassy.
Me: No, I learned how to stop taking shit from people like you.
This book was about two drifted friends who in their teenage did some pretty petty things which led to the separation. Now Lani, here was a freelancer journalist and was in her home town which she left eight years ago because her grandma’s death. The town which lived in was more than half own my Brett’s family so yes he was like a local celebrity there, who for some reason tainted his reputation of sweet and caring boy to a spoilt brat.
Lani, was not always like this her sassiness came after she left her town and after her heart was broken. Same goes with the Brett but he was always pretentious towards his so call high school friends.
this was a new breed of Lani. This was a reincarnation, an adaptation, a reinvigoration of the girl I loved so long ago.
The reason behind his behaviour has the major role of Lani in it but i am not telling you that. Go and read tk find that out. But after they sort their things out there are still pretty major problems or should i say secrets locked in coffin?
You know as they Friend as the worst enemy… I think that’s kind out true for Brett and Lani because he know what ticks her off and what her angry!
If there was one thing Brett Walker could do, it was push my buttons. All the wrong ones.
The thing i loved most about this book was – excluding the overflowing sassiness – is the banter between Brett and Lani, Brett and Camille, his sister and Brett and his Aunt Bel. Well any female who doesn’t give a damn about his hot and tattoo cladded body with blue-gray eyes!
One minute he was sweet, my Brett, as my sentimental bitch of a memory had named him, and the next, he was that Brett. That sexy, unfiltered, filthy-mouthed Casanova who made me want his infuriating ass.
