But after a decade in hiding, the secret’s out and Parliament demands that Colin wed a princess of their choosing. Unwilling to play their game, Colin decides to marry an American instead, and he has the perfect candidate in mind.
As a home-service professional, Della Hughes doesn’t believe in storybook endings. But when her best friend and secret crush reveals that he’s a flesh-and- blood prince, she doesn’t know what to think. Still, she’ll do anything for Colin, including becoming his wife—in name only, of course. But when their plans to stay purely platonic go by the wayside, their fake honeymoon turns all too real. After a week of white-hot nights, Della can no longer deny her feelings—not with a happily ever after so tantalizingly close.

Royal Scandal is the first book in Royals in Exiles and honestly my first book by the author, Marquita Valentine as well. What got to read this book was the blurb, it’s like a fairy tale when a price falls fall a commoner. As I love fairy tales so much this book was bound to read.
The first few chapters I was confuse about the monarchy and the hierarchy of the royals but as I got into the book I liked where I was heading. Colin Sinclair, was the prince of a small country, who still had monarchy in system was exile with his brothers and sister to a small country in US. The exile was a bit tough on Colin as he and his brother were taking care of their younger and very little brothers and sisters. Colin only 19 when he was pressured with the upbringing of his 1 and 4 year brothers and teenage twins’ sister.
They can pretend we don’t exist, but that doesn’t mean we have to pretend we don’t exist as well.”
So, when he met a feisty and bold girl living next door to him who in her right mind would talk to him like that if she knew he was prince, he got attracted by Della. Della was the care taker of the property, the Sinclair lived in. Colin and Della quickly becomes friends and they both together help in the upbringing of the siblings
The book then was jumped a leap of ten years, where the Colin has significantly increase his attraction towards Della. But he would do anything to jeopardize that. Della also living with him every free second wanted nothing more than Colin but she too is afraid of ruing their friendship. But when the parliament in the British country where, Sinclair were the monarchs, wanted Colin to be the king and marry someone of their choice, He decides to defiant them and someone he likes, like marriage of convenience.
“Every once in a while, in the middle of our ordinary lives, love gives us a fairy tale.”
Well all in all, the book was great with light, flirty and humorous. If you are looking for something like fairy-tale but in modern version, read this one.
